I officially congratulate President-Elect General Muhammadu Buhari on winning the presidential election in Nigeria.
It is noteworthy that your persistent and never-say-never attitude finally shined so brightly. Dear General Buhari, Nigerians and the world wish you good health, wisdom and spirited energy to serve the nation. God bless Nigeria.
Friends, welcome to the month of April, 2015 and it is so terrific to know that is a new quarter. You are highly welcome to another session today. I’m as glad as always to have you here.
I have decided to pinpoint a few lessons from the just concluded presidential election in Nigeria. I take it that Nigeria is a strategic force in the world. Nigeria isn’t just the giant of Africa.
She is a nation of renown in the world. Nigeria has witnessed both dark and good days, yet still standing.
There will be 5 solid lessons to learn here and you can adapt it to your business or life very easily.
Number 1: THERE IS POWER IN PEOPLE
As a leader, never think you are in power without knowing the power in people. You must have that radar that detects the burning guts of your followers and respond to it. You must never underestimate the difference between leading and ruling. Heal the wound rather than soil the pain.
Number 2: KEEP YOUR VISIONS ALIVE NO MATTER WHAT.
Yeah, if General Buhari can become Nigeria president at 72, how old are you? Are you frustrated? Okay…cool. Try again. Keep your vision, you may re-strategize. Write your vision; drink it daily like ocean torrent. Speak about it. Do something about it daily.
Number 3: LEARN TO COLLABORATE
Ah, this is the blockbuster. No wonder collaboration is a crucial 21st century skill. You must learn how to join force with like minds. Fan to flames the juice of lofty ideas. 4 days to the end of the first quarter, I connected with 12 amazing people for soul searching. The product of that 4 days will run for several generation to come. Watch out! Learn to find the ropes that fit your clip. Use the power of synergy for disruptive innovation.
Number 4: LEARN ABOUT MARKETING
The power of new media was massively displayed in the election. It won. It will even tomorrow. The winning party mastered the crook and hook of social media. Awesome leveraging! I understand that you have loads of values, but nobody knows. You haven’t displayed it. You have a lot of solution to world’s problem, but we can’t find you. Go and learn about how to tell the world about our goodness. You must. It works.
Number 5: LOVE YOUR ENEMY PASSIONATELY
While there were bids to disqualify the eligibility of the General Buhari, he kept mute, romancing his vision. You must love your enemy close enough to use their foolishness as a stepping stone. Understand the red, amber and green light. When they go, you ought to wait. Every step your foes take is an opportunity for you to go a mile. They open the pathway. Think!
Here, I will call it a wrap for this week. Go all out and be better, faster and greater. Love yourself, bless your nation and pray for your leaders. Do have an amazing quarter. May peace and prosperity be evident in every corner and street of Nigeria and the world. Thanks for joining me on today. Cheers and much love. Remember that you are limitless.
